Sophia's passion, career aspirations and accomplishments have been serving the needs of others. She served in the United States Navy from 1987-1996 as an Electrician. She served onboard two Navy Vessels, a Submarine Tender, a Salvage Ship, and stationed at Submarine Base Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Sophia performed preventative maintenance and repair on generators and motors onboard submarines among other things. Since discharging from the Navy, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Sophia has worked in a variety of social service capacities including being a Case Manager for Family Resource Center, determining Eligibility for Public Assistance, Child Protective Services Worker, investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, and a Marriage and Family Trainee, providing counseling services and support to homeless veterans with mental health, substance abuse, and dependency issues.
